Based on a request from Ben McLeod, guitarist for All Them Witches, to have a new and different fuzz from his Alabaster pedal and add an octave, I came up with La Scatola Nera.
The fuzz side has a rich, fuzzy/distortion feel with a mid-boost in the tone section. Low notes are punchy and they don't get muddy if you play in lower tunings. Lead notes are smooth and cut through nicely with the extra mids in the tone.
The octave side is an octave-up. When using the neck pickup the octave really comes alive giving upper lead notes an almost 3-D effect. On the bridge pickup the lower notes double up for a great effect and give an almost ring-modulated sound.
The pedal also works great on bass as you can hear in the demo below.
You can hear the octave and fuzz of La Scatola Nera on All Them Witches new single, 1X1.
As with all Stomp Under Foot pedals, La Scatola Nera is made by hand, using only quality, through-hole components.
