ULTRA 47 RAM'S HEAD®

After discovering this rare 1973-1974 circuit and building a small run in the Vintage Mini format, I wanted to take the design a little further. I kept the character of the original, made a few tweaks and added a mids control for more flexibility.

For the original Ultra 47 classic mid-scooped sound, use the 47 symbol on the mids control as your starting point. Turn the control up from 47 to add mids for a fuller sound that cuts through a live band mix, or turn it down for a deeper scoop.

The Ultra 47 is very similar in character to the 2247, but it uses large-value capacitors throughout the entire circuit. The result is a surprisingly massive sound that never becomes muddy, it simply stays huge.

The lower notes are gnarly, wooly, and full of growl while still retaining remarkable clarity. Lead tones are warm, punchy, and incredibly smooth.

It remains one of the most impressive Big Muff circuits I have ever played.
