VINTAGE EDITIONS

My goal with the Vintage Editions is to recreate the feel and tone for those looking for the most accurate version of their favorite pedal using as many vintage and new-old-stock parts I can find.

SHAG™ MKII - Blem

image17

  • Tonebender™ MKII circuit in a copy of the MKI enclosure
  • NPN Germanium Transistors matched for gains and leakage
  • True-Bypass
  • Hand-Wired
  • 9V Battery or 2.1 9V Adapter Only
  • 4mA
  • NOS Parts
  • Hand-Wired and handmade in the U.S.A.

There is a small blem in the finish on the left side near the footswitch.

I love the look of the MKI Tonebender but love the sound of the MKII so I decided to build a MKII circuit in a MKI enclosure.

The Shag MKII uses NOS, matched, NPN, germanium transistors. This allows you to use your favorite negative-tip 9V adapter and keep the pedal in a chain with other pedals.

This three-transistor fuzz has a very rich, harmonic sound with a lot of gain.

The original circuit didn't have a lot of output so I slightly modified this to give you more volume when you need it.

All Stomp Under Foot pedals are made by hand and use only quality, through-hole components.

1974 RAM'S HEAD® V1

image18

  • NOS 2N5133 Transistors
  • Copy of the original enclosure made with stainless steel
  • Same type of resistors as the original
  • Original Daka-Ware Knobs
  • True-Bypass
  • Hand-Wired
  • 9V Battery or 2.1 9V Adapter Only
  • 6mA
  • NOS Parts
  • Hand-Wired and handmade in the U.S.A.

The 1974 Ram's Head has a nice  amount of low-end without being overly bassy.

Chords have a massive growl and lead tones have a smooth, warm punch.  The tone section of this one was changed to have a slight mid-hump but doesn’t sound too mid-rangy as it seems to balance out the tone section more than adding a lot of mid-range to it.

All Stomp Under Foot pedals are made by hand and use only quality, through-hole components.

WHAT IF...? GREEN RUSSIAN™

image19

  • Original 2N5133 Transistors
  • Triangle-era enclosure
  • Same type of resistors and capacitors as an original Triangle
  • Sovtek-styled knobs
  • True-Bypass
  • 9V Battery or 2.1 9V Adapter Only
  • 8mA
  • NOS Parts
  • Hand-Wired and handmade in the U.S.A.

I made this version using the same parts found in the early Triangle muffs with the Green Russian part values and used the same 2N5133 transistors found in the original pedals.

The result is a Green Russian that thinks it is a Triangle. The gritty fuzz is there but has a little more of that vintage wooly feel to the fuzz and the tone seems to be clearer but full and bassy.

All Stomp Under Foot pedals are made by hand and use only quality, through-hole components.

WHAT IF...? PUMPKIN PI™

image20

  • Original, period correct Op-Amps
  • Triangle-era enclosure
  • Same type of resistors and capacitors as an original Triangle
  • Original Daka-Ware Knobs
  • True-Bypass
  • 9V Battery or 2.1 9V Adapter Only
  • 8mA
  • NOS Parts
  • Hand-Wired and handmade in the U.S.A.

The What if...? Pumpkin Pi sounds incredible. It has a mix of the 1977 Op-Amp pedal mixed with an old Triangle.

The pedal still has that Op-Amp sound with some vintage grit added to it.

Chords are huge and gnarly while lead tones have that full yet biting attack.

All Stomp Under Foot pedals are made by hand and use only quality, through-hole components.

2247 RAM'S HEAD® V8

image21

  • Copy of an original Triangle-era enclosure
  • Original NOS 2N5133 Transistors
  • Exact NOS large green capacitors
  • Original Daka-Ware Knobs
  • True-Bypass
  • Hand-Wired
  • 9V Battery or 2.1 9V Adapter Only
  • 6mA
  • Hand-Wired and handmade in the U.S.A.

Based on the rare 1973 Big Muff™, the 2247 was a very different design. The pedal had these large, green, ceramic capacitors that gives the pedal a very open and gritty sound that is different from other Big Muffs.

The pedal has lower gain, compared to other pedals, that gives it a very gritty, almost overdriven fuzz tone to it.

All Stomp Under Foot pedals are made by hand and use only quality, through-hole components.

WHAT IF...? CIVIL WAR®

image22

  • Original 2N5133 Transistors
  • Triangle-era enclosure made with stainless steel
  • Same type of resistors and capacitors as an original Triangle
  • Sovtek-styled knobs
  • True-Bypass
  • 9V Battery or 2.1 9V Adapter Only
  • 8mA
  • NOS Parts
  • Hand-Wired and handmade in the U.S.A.

What if the Civil War was the very first Big Muff™ and not the Triangle?

This is the question I answered with the What if...? Civil War.

I made this version using the same parts found in the early Triangle muffs with the Civil War part values and used the same 2N5133 transistors found in the original pedals.

The result is a great sounding Civil War that still captures the spirit of the Russian version with a vintage sound.

The gain has a little more wooly grit to it, a little more clarity.

All Stomp Under Foot pedals are made by hand and use only quality, through-hole components.

RED ARMY

image23

  • Copy of an original Triangle-era enclosure
  • Original NOS Russian transistors
  • Vintage resistors and capacitors
  • Sovtek-styled knobs
  • True-Bypass
  • Hand-Wired
  • 9V Battery or 2.1 9V Adapter Only
  • 6mA
  • Hand-Wired and handmade in the U.S.A.

The rare "Mike Matthew's Red Army Overdrive" was produced around 1990 in Russia under the Sovtek name. This was the first fuzz produced by Sovtek after Electro-Harmonix moved to Russia and started the new company and the name of the pedal was a bit misleading as it was a fuzz and not an overdrive.

The Red Army is different from the other Russian pedals as it has a little less low end than the Civil War that followed it and a grittier fuzz than the later Green Russian.

This is a personal favorite of mine and is available in a limited amount.

All Stomp Under Foot pedals are made by hand and use only quality, through-hole components.

1975 "VIOLET" RAM'S HEAD®

image24

  • Copy of the original enclosure made with stainless steel
  • Same exact capacitors as found in the original pedal
  • Gain matched transistors as the original
  • Same type of resistors as the original
  • Original Daka-Ware Knobs
  • True-Bypass
  • Hand-Wired
  • 9V Battery or 2.1 9V Adapter Only
  • 6mA
  • NOS Parts
  • Hand-Wired and handmade in the U.S.A.

One of the most popular 1975 pedals, the Violet Ram's Head has large amounts of warm, smooth fuzz.

The tone is very balanced and chords are full while retaining string clarity.

Lead tones are very smooth, syrupy and punchy and harmonics jump out with very little effort.

All Stomp Under Foot pedals are made by hand and use only quality, through-hole components.

TALL FONT CIVIL WAR®

image25

  • Original NOS Russian Transistors
  • Triangle-era enclosure
  • Same type of resistors and capacitors as an original Triangle
  • Sovtek-styled knobs
  • True-Bypass
  • 9V Battery or 2.1 9V Adapter      Only
  • 8mA
  • NOS Parts
  • Hand-Wired and handmade in the U.S.A.

I had a request from one of my dealers to make a Tall Font Green Russian in the Vintage Triangle enclosure with the original Triangle type-of-parts.

A misconception about the Tall Font, Green Russian pedals is that they are close to the Bubble Font, Green Russians, actually they are Civil War circuits.

I made this version using the same parts found in the early Triangle muffs with the Civil War part values.

The result is a great sounding Civil War that captures the spirit of the Russian version with a vintage sound and gain with a little more wooly grit.

All Stomp Under Foot pedals are made by hand and use only quality, through-hole components.
